JUDGE CORTINAS RESIGNS

BREAKING:
(Well, as of May 30th, but we missed it whilst out of town).

After 8 years at the 3rd DCA, Judge Angel Cortinas has resigned to become a partner/shareholder at the Gunster law firm.

CHARLES THE GREAT WINS AT THE 3RD DCA
Speaking of our favourite appellate court, Judge Emas wrote here for the court reversing the contempt conviction and six month sentence for the aptly named Emmanuel Charlemagne.
Judge Stacy Glick was reversed for not affording the defendant the chance to present evidence of mitigation, as required under 3.830. Nice to see "contumacious" making a comeback at the 3rd DCA.

CHANNEL 10 covers the Florida Bar's harassment investigation of Broward Blogger Bill Gelin:

Who The F cares about this. You just wanted to not have to look at the post of the Heat score kicking the Pacers butt.

Face it Rumpole, you got nothing to say, because you were dead wrong about this Heat team. They have class, they have heart, and they will win another NBA Championship.

By the way, you had a great debate going on there in your comments section about the post yesterday on the Supreme Court case and the fourth amendment issues. That's what this Blog should be all about - glad you posted it.

Well, I think a lot of people care about this. This is after all, a legal blog.

As to your cry-baby heat, they couldn't close it out when they should have; they whined about the refs, they flopped, they act surprised when teams fight back- as if they should just be handed the title on a platter, and I stand by all my comments- they are spoiled, no heart babies, and when Wade and Lebron and Bosh scatter next year, so will their bandwagon jumping fans (Judge Colodny excluded of course.)

Now that's the rumpole we all know and love, the Heat basher is back in town.

Welcome back.

When should they have closed it out kind sir? The went through the playoffs last year and it took them 18 games to reach the finals.

This year, 16.

I'd say that's an improvement. And given the matchups the Pacers provided, I don't think anyone was surprised that the series would have gone six or seven games. Hell, most of the TNT announcing team picked the Pacers. Of course, they were wrong.

Care to make a prediction, Spurs or Heat, for the title?

Who manned the tweet deck while you were gone? The intern who ran the blog was way over his/her head. Drowning actually.

I'm sure Judge Cortinas is thrilled that you have his pic next to Nixon, who resigned in disgrace and in order to avoid a conviction in an impeachment trial and removal from office.

Actually he called and thanked me.

Thank God Cortinas is gone. Now if we can only get rid of Rothenberg we might get some decent opinions, or just opinions for that matter, from the 3rd.

Breaking News. Cortinas knows the identity of Rumpole. Maybe Rumpole is Emas.

Gee, trying to remember Cortinas doing much for our clients...nope, can think of much.

We need details.

In an ongoing jury trial in Federal Court in Broweird before Judge Rosenbaum today, attorney Mark Seitles put on a dress in court and cross-examined a special agent of the FBI.

Seitles was attempting to show the jury that the agent's allegations about his client concealing a firearm under the client's dress, during an armed robbery of a Brink's truck, that resulted in the killing of the driver, could not be true.

Can someone give us some more details?

Nice word rump. Contumacious:

(especially relating to a defendant's behavior) Stubbornly or willfully disobedient to authority
