GOVERNOR SCOTT NAMES NEWEST 3RD DCA JUDGE .....

THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

BREAKING NEWS .......

YOUR NEWEST 3rd DCA Judge is:

JUDGE NORMA LINDSEY

Judge Lindsey fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Linda Wells.  Judge Lindsey began her career in private practice in 1993 with the law firm of Hornsby, Sacher.  She worked for a number of law firms from 1993 through 2005.  In 2005 she became a County Court Judge.  She served on the County Court for six years until Governor Scott appointed her to the Circuit Court in December of 2011.  She has served on the Circuit Court for the past five and one half years, having replaced Judge Ivan Fernandez.  She now joins Fernandez on the 3rd DCA.  Lindsey was chosen over five other finalists:

Judge Monica Gordo, Judge Bronwyn C. Miller, Oren Rosenthal, Esq., Judge Daryl E. Trawick, Judge Angelica Zayas

This appointment now opens up another seat on the Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County for Governor Scott.

ON THE GOVERNOR'S DESK .......

Governor Scott has two open seats to fill, one in the Circuit Court, and one in the County Court, with six named finalists for each on his desk.  The decision on these two seats is not expected until sometime in mid July:

CIRCUIT COURT (as mentioned in the post below):
This appointment replaces Judge Robert Luck.

Judge Andrea Ricker Wolfson
Judge Lourdes Simon
Judge Spencer Multack
Judge Ivonne Cuesta
Judge Tanya Brinkley
Ayana Harris

COUNTY COURT:
This appointment replaces Judge Victoria del Pino.

Ramiro Areces
GM Karl S.H. Brown
Julie Harris Nelson
Elijah Levitt
Joseph Mansfield
GM Gordon Murray, Sr.

ON THE JNC'S DESK .....

The Eleventh Circuit JNC has received applications from 25 attorneys to replace Judge Jason Dimitris.  The interview schedule and who will be interviewed has not yet been determined.

Norma, nice person who cannot make a decision.

Can anyone who's practiced in front of her chime in?

Norma's a nice and decent person but, not a very good judge. She has serious trouble picking who should win. It's amazing she's gone this far. It must be political connections.

How can you leave us for the weekend and now put up all the posts Runpole??

I swear I saw Judge David Young and Judge Martin Zilber at Trump National. They both had tuxedos on and could be TWINS!

Does everyone know that Mimai-Dade has among the lowest felony trial rate in the state?

Ramiro Areces is the son, not the father. He has virtually no expeience in litigation, has had zero jury trials and is treading on the skirts of his judge mother. Like his mother,(sold Amway and had no judicial experience) he is extremely unqualified and its distressing that he has made it to the final 6. Our present bench for the most part is terrible. Apologies to Judge Hanzman and a few others.

Lindsey is a wonderful person and extremely fair trial judge. However she's not afraid to rule or make the tough calls. She will do well at the Third DCA.

I have had limited experience with Judge Lindsey. However, I believe she is one of the better judges at 73 West Flagler. Good judicial temperament and rules logically with common sense. She will be a good Plaintiffs judge at the 3d. A very good pick in that she was much better than the other candidates. Sorry to lose her the 3d.

5th (of the 6 names that went up) most qualified in terms of ability and intelligence and 1st most qualified in terms of Federalist Society and Republican Party values and connections.

1:55pm you're completely wrong! Gordo & Miller are much more Republican than Lindsey. Check your facts, buddy!

Judge Lindsey is an excellent judge, and whenever we are before her on a complicated legal issues, we find her prepared to rule, knowledgeable about the law, and correct in her rulings, including rulings against us. I think that anyone who has followed her judicial career should be impressed with how quickly she has progressed as a judge. She is an excellent choice for the Third.

1:51-- Is Bernstein jealous?

So Norma Lindsey was a private attorney who bounced from firm to firm who then became a county court criminal judge for all of a whopping 6 months?

Then she became a circuit court judge and NEVER came back to criminal court?

And now she's a DCA judge? Makes sense. Tell your clients, "prepare thy anus."

@9:49--Seriously. Has no business being a judge.

Lindsey is the Peter Principle Personified. And, no, she will not be good for any plaintiffs. She is, as someone said above, the 5th best candidate on that list of 6.#Thanks Scott!
